Switching from TeamUp?

ClassIQ vs TeamUp

TeamUp is one of the fairer deals in the category: your own Stripe or GoCardless account with no markup, every feature at every tier, unlimited locations, and support people actually like. Two structural gaps matter for a studio like yours. TeamUp prices by active customers — $119 to $379 a month as you grow, where ClassIQ stays flat — and it has no progression system at all: no belts, no gradings, no promotion history. Add one-way-only SMS and campaigns that lean on Mailchimp, and the table below mostly writes itself.

Why owners move from TeamUp.

Belts aren't an integration

TeamUp's martial-arts page suggests linking "any external grading system" — because there is no belt, rank, or grading module inside. ClassIQ ships progression tracks, assessments, cohort test-day rosters, and paid gradings as first-class features.

Flat versus headcount

TeamUp's meter reads $189/mo at 101–200 active customers and $379 past 500. ClassIQ charges the same flat price at every size — a growing roster shouldn't mean a growing software line.

Conversations, not broadcasts

TeamUp SMS is explicitly one-way with a monthly minimum, and bulk email means exporting to Mailchimp. ClassIQ includes two-way member threads, segmented campaigns, and automated journeys in the box.

Fair is fair

Where TeamUp genuinely wins.

Payments done right

Own Stripe or GoCardless account, no markup, payment relationship fully yours — full credit. This is the same stance ClassIQ takes, and TeamUp got there first.

Direct debit rails

GoCardless bank-debit support is excellent for UK/EU businesses — a payment rail ClassIQ does not offer.

Unlimited locations & longevity

Every plan includes unlimited venues, and the platform has run 20,000+ of them since 2012 — plus a new included AI business advisor and door-access integration.

If those are the features your studio runs on, TeamUp may be the right tool — and this page should make that easy to see.

The math nobody prints

Fair on fees, priced by headcount.

TeamUp deserves the credit it gets: like ClassIQ, it takes no cut of your payments. The line that grows is the subscription — $119 to $379 a month as active customers climb — plus $99/mo for the branded app and a $15/mo SMS minimum. ClassIQ stays at $99 flat with the branded member experience included.

Switching is our job, not yours.

Done-for-you migration

Export your members from TeamUp (or hand us the spreadsheet) and we import them — mapped, previewed, and verified before anything goes live. Included, not an add-on.

Your Stripe account, not ours

Payments run on a Stripe account you own. Saved cards and payment history stay yours — including if you ever leave ClassIQ.

No contract holding the door

Month-to-month, no setup fee, CSV export any time. If ClassIQ stops earning its keep, leaving is a download — the same standard we'd hold TeamUp to.

Common questions.

We're a martial arts school on TeamUp — what actually changes?
The biggest change is that progression exists: belt ladders, attendance-driven eligibility, assessments, cohorts for test day, and paid gradings — none of which TeamUp models. You also pick up NFC tap check-in, Wallet passes, two-way messaging, and terminology so the portal says "students" and "gradings" instead of generic fitness nouns.
Does ClassIQ support GoCardless or direct debit?
No — ClassIQ runs on Stripe. If bank-debit collection via GoCardless is core to how you bill (common in the UK/EU), TeamUp has a real advantage there and you should weigh it.
How painful is the migration?
Unusually painless, because both systems leave the merchant account in your hands: your Stripe account simply reconnects to ClassIQ, so saved cards don't move at all. Members and memberships come over via CSV, and we run that import for you.
What does TeamUp have that ClassIQ lacks?
GoCardless direct debit, Kisi door-access integration, bookable space rentals, and an included AI business advisor. If those anchor your operation, TeamUp remains a fair, honestly priced choice — this page exists for schools that need the progression and communication layers it skips.
